24th Annual Swati Tirunal Day music and dance festival

Saturday, April 25, 2014. 8:30 am to 10:00 pm. Hoover School Auditorium, 3501 Country Club Drive, Lakewood, CA The grand ST Festival and RVMAC Art Exhibition was conducted at this location. Thanks to all participants and volunteers. Click here to see Pictures Thank You ! OHM thanks the members who attended and participated in the 24th annual Swati Tirunal Day that was celebrated with all our customary flair that music and dance lovers in Los Angeles have come to expect, at the Hoover School Auditorium in Lakewood, from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm on April 25th. This is the oldest continuously-held annual Swati Tirunal Festival outside India that we are aware of. Conducting it successfully year after year in the name of perhaps the greatest genius that Kerala has produced since Shankaracharya, is something that all members of OHM can be proud of. OHM expects to conduct the 25th anniversary at an even larger scale next year and is sure of our members' support for that. This year's Swati Tirunal Day was held in the memory of former OHM director and long-time Swati Tirunal Day committee member, the late Sri. N. Madhusudanan (Ret. Lt. Col, Indian Army). The festival saw 55 individual performances of Maharaja Swati Tirunal's Karnatic and Hindusthani compositions, as well as two enjoyable dance programs, and ended with a Grand Concert by Smt. Subhapriya Krishnan Srivatsan. OHM ST Day committee (R. Jayakrishnan, Athira Suresh, Dipu Nair, Raghu Arangassery) thanks Rema Nair, Ravi Vellatheri, Vinodh Bahuleyan, Radhika & Sreekumar, Balan Panicker, Suresh Enchoor, Prananb Kumar, Sabarigirivasan, Jay Nair, Annapoorni & Narayanan, Padmanabha Iyer, Bindu Suresh, Jiju & Sunitha Purushottaman, Sumesh Mitra, and Shreerag Jayakrishnan for all the help at the function. OHM thanks Sri. C. P. Ramani and the Swati Tirunal Institute of Visual Arts and Music (SIVAM) for the continuous support for over two decades. OHM would like to acknowledge the support from music teachers Smt. Padma Kutty, Sri. Babu Paramewaran and Sri Sabari Girish, and all our members who made the function successful. We would also like to specifically mention the generous support from former OHM Presidents Govindankutti Nair and Ramadas Pillai, who made the evening concert possible. Thank you! Prof. R.
